PAOK extends goalkeeper Tsiftsis contract amid injury challenges
PAOK Thessaloniki has officially extended the contract of 27-year-old goalkeeper Antonis Tsiftsis until the summer of 2029. The deal adds one year to his previous agreement, which was set to expire in 2028, reflecting the club's confidence in his performance since he joined the team in the summer of 2024.
This contract renewal comes as the club manages significant personnel challenges, specifically long-term injuries to goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka and forward Taha Ali. Both players are undergoing rehabilitation following surgeries resulting from in-game contact. Due to the nature of these injuries, the club's medical and technical staff have emphasized a cautious approach to their return to full training to ensure complete recovery.
Following the finalization of the Tsiftsis deal, PAOK is now focusing on other critical contract renewals, specifically aiming to secure the futures of Giannis Michailidis and Andrija Zivkovic. With Pavlenka currently sidelined, Tsiftsis is expected to assume a primary role under the posts, providing him with a significant opportunity to establish himself as the club's definitive starting goalkeeper for the upcoming matches.
