Omonia defender Fotis Kitsos reaches recovery milestone
Omonia Nicosia defender Fotis Kitsos has reached a significant milestone in his recovery process, nine months after suffering a severe knee injury. The 23-year-old Greek player, who has been sidelined since January 2026, was recently filmed performing exercises with a ball for the first time since his surgery.
Medical evaluations conducted following the initial incident in January confirmed a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a tear in the lateral meniscus. At the time of the diagnosis, club officials estimated a recovery period of 9 to 12 months, during which the player would remain out of competitive action. Despite the severity of the injury, Kitsos has shown consistent progress throughout his rehabilitation program.
Kitsos remains under contract with Omonia until 2029, and the club maintains strong confidence in his return to full competitive fitness. As he continues to increase his training intensity, the current focus remains on his gradual reintegration into athletic activities, signaling that the final stages of his recovery are underway.
