Limassol concludes the 65th Wine Festival
The 65th Limassol Wine Festival, a major annual cultural event, concluded on Sunday, October 4, 2026, after a successful nine-day run that began on September 26. Held at the Limassol Public Garden, the festival maintained high attendance levels, with an average of approximately 5,000 visitors per night. Public interest was bolstered by the October 1st public holiday, which saw significant turnout from families and local residents.
The festival featured a diverse program of events, including musical tributes to Loukianos Kilaidonis, performances of traditional Greek songs, theatrical shows, and shadow theater by Eleni Papachristoforou. A central highlight was the closing ceremony held at the iconic 'Vrakas' statue, where the president of the municipal cultural committee, Michalis Michael, delivered a greeting on behalf of Mayor Yiannis Armeftis. The event underscored the continuity of Cypriot traditions, with organizers noting that this year's edition successfully integrated traditional wine tasting with contemporary cultural experiences.
Beyond the central location in the public garden, this year's festival also included parallel events in the region's 'Krasochoria' and 'Koumandarachoria' wine-producing villages. High demand was recorded for commemorative merchandise, such as branded bottles and glasses, reflecting the strong commercial and cultural impact of the event.
