Greek police dismantle criminal ring for high-value vehicle thefts in Attica
On September 29, 2026, the Hellenic Police conducted a coordinated operation in Kamatero, Peristeri, and Acharnes, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals linked to a criminal organization specializing in the theft of high-value cars and motorcycles. The group, which reportedly began its activities in late 2025, used a specialized method referred to as 'pataki' to conceal stolen vehicles and evade law enforcement.
Authorities have successfully resolved 23 cases of theft, estimating the gang's illicit profits to exceed 350,000 euros. The detainees, aged between 18 and 60, include the alleged leader of the criminal group. Six suspects were apprehended during the initial operation, while two others were later arrested following the issuance of warrants. The organization operated with clearly defined roles and targeted motorcycles of large displacement.
The investigation into the full extent of the criminal network's operations is ongoing. Police continue to examine whether additional instances of theft are connected to this group as they prepare the evidence for further legal proceedings.
