AEK Larnaca defeats Apollon Limassol 3-0 in friendly match

AEK Larnaca secured a 3-0 victory against Apollon Limassol in a friendly match held on October 3, 2026, at the AEK Arena. The match took place during the international break, providing both teams an opportunity to maintain their rhythm and allow coaches Ruben Selles and Hernan Losada to test players with limited previous playing time.

Bosnian forward Riad Bajic was the standout performer, scoring twice in quick succession during the 64th and 66th minutes. Despite a goalless first half where AEK twice hit the woodwork through Repas and Pankov, the hosts dominated the second half. Andreggen added a third goal in stoppage time (90+2' or 90+3' according to different reports). Managers experimented with tactical formations and rotations, noting that physical conditioning was the priority for key players such as Gaspar, Brown, and Ozvold.

Looking ahead, AEK is preparing for their Cyprus League match against the undefeated Omonia Aradippou, scheduled for October 12. Meanwhile, Apollon Limassol will face Krasava ENY on October 10. Both coaching staffs expressed satisfaction with the workout as they focus on resuming competitive league action.
