Cypriot football clubs face 618 disciplinary penalties in over a year
Between August 22, 2025, and early October 2026, Cypriot football clubs, players, and officials faced 618 disciplinary penalties. This data covers the First Division and the Coca-Cola Cup for both First and Second Divisions. Initially overseen by the KOP Sports Judge, the adjudication process was transferred to a three-member judicial committee starting this season. Among the clubs, Apollon leads the list with 107 penalties, followed by AEL with 81 and Pafos FC with 76.
A significant portion of these sanctions stems from fan misconduct, which accounted for 244 of the total cases. Furthermore, 56 penalties were issued specifically for improper team conduct due to excessive yellow cards—defined as five or more disciplinary actions against team members in a single match. Under regulations, each such infraction carries a minimum fine of €650 for First Division teams. Pafos FC holds the highest frequency of these specific conduct penalties with seven instances, resulting in at least €36,400 in total revenue for the Cyprus Football Association (KOP) across all identified yellow-card infractions.
