Three suspects arrested in connection with Limassol telecommunications office bombing attempt
Three individuals were arrested in Cyprus following the discovery of an unexploded bomb at a telecommunications company office in Mesa Geitonia, Limassol, on September 30. Authorities identified the suspects based on evidence gathered during the investigation, which included a high-powered motorcycle abandoned in the village of Lofou that was reportedly used by the perpetrator. Police pursued a rider on this motorcycle shortly after the incident, but the suspect managed to escape at the time.
On Sunday, October 4, the Limassol District Court reviewed a request for an eight-day detention period for the three suspects, though their defense attorneys formally objected to the request. Initial reports indicate the motive may be related to football rivalry or activities. Specifically, investigators are examining a potential link between this incident and a formal complaint filed by the AEL football club regarding the alleged manipulation of a match against APOEL. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects' involvement as the judicial process continues.
