Spanish police relocate thousands of migrants from Ceuta beach camp
Spanish authorities conducted a clearing operation on October 4, 2026, at a migrant encampment located on a beach in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa. The operation targeted the Trampolin beach area, where approximately 3,000 individuals had been residing in tents and makeshift structures for two months.
The relocation follows a mass border crossing in late July, when more than 72,000 migrants entered Ceuta from Morocco. While most returned subsequently, an estimated 10,000 people remained in the territory, placing severe strain on local resources and causing social tensions. According to an Interior Ministry spokesperson, the migrants were moved to a temporary facility. This site is intended to serve as a hub where individuals can undergo legal processing or choose to return voluntarily to Morocco.
This event marks the latest phase in addressing the demographic pressures on the small enclave. The ongoing presence of thousands of migrants has challenged local infrastructure, prompting this organized intervention by law enforcement to stabilize the living conditions and manage the legal status of the remaining population.
