Recent traffic congestion on Cyprus motorways following accidents
Over the past few days, several traffic incidents have occurred on major Cypriot motorways, leading to significant congestion and police intervention. On October 4, 2026, a road collision caused heavy traffic on the Larnaca–Ayia Napa highway, specifically before the Livadia exit in the direction of Ayia Napa.
Subsequently, on October 6, 2026, two consecutive road accidents near the Tsirio Stadium in Limassol resulted in major traffic disruption in both directions. Following this, on the morning of October 7, 2026, another collision occurred on the Nicosia–Limassol highway near the Moni area, impacting travel toward Limassol.
In all reported instances, police units were deployed to the scenes to manage traffic flow, conduct investigations into the circumstances of the crashes, and assist in clearing the roads. Authorities have consistently advised drivers to exercise caution, maintain safe following distances, and follow instructions from officers on-site to ensure the safety of all commuters and facilitate the normalization of traffic conditions.
