Recent traffic disruptions and road accidents across Cyprus
Between October 6 and October 8, 2026, several road incidents and infrastructure works caused significant traffic delays across Cyprus. On October 6, multiple collisions near the Tsirio Stadium in Limassol disrupted traffic in both directions, requiring police intervention to normalize flow. The following day, a crash on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near the Moni area led to heavy congestion. Additionally, ongoing road works between the Kouklia weighbridge and Agia Varvara on the Limassol-Paphos motorway, combined with severe weather conditions, necessitated the closure of two lanes and the diversion of traffic to the opposite carriageway.
On October 8, a truck spilled its load of manure onto the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway near the Lympia exit, forcing the temporary closure of the left lane for cleaning. Simultaneously, a four-vehicle collision occurred in Pallouriotissa, Nicosia, resulting in material damage and further traffic delays. Throughout these incidents, the police were deployed to manage traffic, conduct investigations, and assist with cleanup operations. Authorities have consistently urged drivers to maintain safe distances, exercise caution, and follow instructions from officers on-site to ensure road safety.
