Handgun discovered in Nicosia apartment building

On the afternoon of October 4, 2026, members of the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) discovered a handgun equipped with a magazine in the Nicosia district. The discovery occurred following the evaluation of intelligence received by the authorities.

Police officers arrived at the scene, an apartment building in the Nicosia province, around 2:25 p.m. Upon searching the ground floor, they located the weapon inside a wooden electrical switch box. The handgun and its magazine were seized by the authorities as evidence. These items have been transported to a laboratory for specialized forensic examination.

The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department has launched an ongoing investigation into the matter. Forensic experts are currently analyzing the weapon to determine its origin and whether it has been linked to any criminal activity. There have been no reports of arrests at this stage of the operation.
