Public dispute between Anna Vissi and Nikos Karvelas intensifies
A longstanding artistic and personal partnership between singer Anna Vissi and composer Nikos Karvelas has collapsed following Vissi's concert at OAKA on September 26, 2026. The conflict escalated after Karvelas allegedly demanded 1.5 million euros from Vissi just days before the event. Vissi, represented by lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, has publicly accused the composer of extortion and announced the termination of all efforts to reach an out-of-court settlement, signaling a transition toward legal proceedings.
The production company, D&A Live Concerts, has denied all claims of outstanding debt to Karvelas. According to their statement, they paid 250,000 euros to the collective management organization AUTODIA on September 23, 2026, as an advance for the intellectual property rights associated with the performed songs. The firm clarified that no separate direct agreements exist between them and the composer.
Legal experts confirm that as a creator, Karvelas possesses the right to prohibit the performance of his works, a prospect that has intensified the standoff. Tensions were further exacerbated by reports of an alleged confrontation in the singer's dressing room prior to the concert. Both parties have released conflicting public statements regarding the nature of their disagreement, which now appears headed to the courts.
