US bombers relocated from RAF Fairford following security investigation
The United States Air Force has relocated all its bombers from the RAF Fairford airbase in England back to domestic bases in the U.S. The decision follows an ongoing security investigation into a potential terrorist plot targeting the facility. In late September, British emergency services responded to reports of three suspicious vehicles near the base. While no explosives were discovered, police recovered quantities of fuel from the vehicles, leading to the arrest of six individuals on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism.
Among the detainees, five are British nationals and one is a dual British-Iranian citizen arrested in central London. All six suspects have since been released on bail as the inquiry continues. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has indicated there are strong signs of potential Iranian involvement in the incident, a claim that Tehran has categorically denied. The RAF Fairford base had been utilized for operations against Iran prior to these events. The investigation remains active with authorities still examining several unclear aspects of the case.
