Giorgos Pamboridis criticizes influence in DISY and urges clear stance on president

On October 5, 2026, DISY Member of Parliament and former Minister of Health, Giorgos Pamboridis, addressed the ongoing internal crisis within the Democratic Rally party during an appearance on the television program 'Protoselido'. Pamboridis criticized the intervention of external factors, specifically mentioning publishers and journalists who attempt to influence party positions and appointments. He emphasized that while these actors exist, the primary responsibility lies with politicians who allow such interference to occur for personal gain.

Regarding the party's strategic direction, Pamboridis demanded a clear stance regarding President Nikos Christodoulidis. He asserted that Christodoulidis, having chosen to leave the party to run for office in 2023, is currently outside of DISY and should not be considered for support in future electoral rounds. Furthermore, Pamboridis expressed strong concerns about the potential consequences of an independent candidacy by Averof Neofytou.

Currently, Pamboridis revealed he is near a decision regarding his own potential bid for the party’s presidential nomination.
