Police seize large quantity of nitrous oxide in Ayia Napa
On the evening of Sunday, October 4, 2026, members of the Famagusta Crime Prevention Unit (OPE) conducted a search operation at a business premise in the Famagusta district. The operation was authorized by a judicial warrant and focused on the illicit sale and use of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.
During the search, law enforcement authorities discovered and seized a total of 271 full canisters of nitrous oxide, 47 empty used canisters, 4 metal release canisters, and a quantity of balloons intended for the administration of the substance. Following the discovery, the person in charge of the facility was summoned to the Ayia Napa Police Station to provide a formal statement and to undergo standard legal processing.
The Ayia Napa Police Station is currently conducting an investigation into the matter to determine further legal consequences. No additional details regarding potential charges or the identity of the individual have been disclosed at this time.
