Leventis Municipal Museum and Alpha Bank announce exhibition on numismatic history

The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia and Alpha Bank have announced a new exhibition titled “Messages in Metal: A Timeless Dialogue with Cyprus”. The official opening is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, and the exhibition will remain accessible to the public until January 10, 2027.

This event marks the first time a major segment of the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection, which contains over 11,000 items and is considered one of the most significant private collections globally, is being showcased in Cyprus. The exhibition features a curated selection of these coins alongside items from the Leventis Municipal Museum, creating a dialogue that illustrates Cyprus' historical role in the political, economic, and cultural landscape of the Eastern Mediterranean. By examining symbols and inscriptions on these historical artifacts, the exhibition aims to frame coins as vehicles of cultural memory and social values rather than simple transactional tools.
