Ammochostos regional organization reports record-breaking permit issuance in 2026
The Ammochostos District Self-Government Organization (EOA) announced a significant increase in permit issuance for 2026, with September marking a record month in the organization's history. According to EOA President Yiannis Karousos, the body completed 299 licensing applications in September alone, surpassing the previous record of 293 set in June 2025.
Key performance indicators show that by the end of September 2026, the organization had finalized 1,070 development category applications, a 15.6% increase over the 926 total processed in all of 2025. Specifically, building permits rose by 40.1%, with 646 applications completed compared to 461 in the previous year. Planning permits reached 424, covering 91.2% of the 2025 annual total with three months still remaining in the year.
These improvements are attributed to the ongoing local government reform, which has enhanced the efficiency of permit processing across various EOA offices. Mr. Karousos stated that the organization has implemented a policy of strictly chronological processing for applications. To further support transparency, the EOA plans to introduce new digital tools that will allow citizens to track the priority status and progress of their individual requests.
