Cyprus stock market closes lower on Monday
The Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced a broad downward trend during Monday's trading session, closing with significant losses across almost all indices. The General Index finished the day at 316.97 points, marking a decline of 1.08%, while the FTSE/CySE 20 index fell by 1.09% to 186.24 points. Total daily turnover remained subdued, reaching a final value of 177,958.71 euros.
Negative pressure was widespread, with the Main Market suffering the most significant impact, recording a drop of 1.22%. Other sectors followed the downward trajectory, as the Alternative Market decreased by 0.66%, investment companies by 0.36%, and the hotel sector by 0.35%.
Trading activity was primarily centered on Vassiliko Cement Works, which recorded the highest turnover at 63,583.50 euros, closing at 6.45 euros per share, a decline of 1.53%. Pandora Investments also saw notable trading activity with a turnover of 21,076.02 euros and a sharp drop of 3.85% to 0.20 euros. Bank of Cyprus shares also faced selling pressure earlier in the session, contributing to the overall market decline.
