Nigerian Air Force aircraft crashes in the south of the country
A Nigerian Air Force aircraft carrying 32 people on board crashed in the southern part of the country on October 5, 2026. According to Nigerian Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, the flight manifest included 25 passengers and 7 crew members.
The aircraft lost contact with air traffic control at 11:13 local time while en route to Lagos. The wreckage was subsequently located near a naval base in the coastal town of Igbokoda, located in Ondo state. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to assess the situation and look for survivors, though there has been no immediate official confirmation regarding casualties.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the loss of communication and the subsequent crash. The flight was intended to reach Lagos before disappearing from radar screens, leading to the deployment of emergency services in the southwestern region where the debris was found.
