Two individuals arrested in Nicosia for drug possession

On the afternoon of October 5, 2026, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) arrested a 27-year-old man in Nicosia after discovering approximately one kilogram of cannabis inside his vehicle. During a targeted check, police also recovered two mobile phones, a sum of money, and a partially smoked cigarette containing a mixture of cannabis and tobacco.

Following the man's arrest, authorities conducted a search of his residence where his 23-year-old partner was present. This search yielded an additional 105 grams of cannabis, two more mobile phones, and a precision scale. Both the man and his 23-year-old partner were arrested for flagrant offenses and taken into custody.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court on the morning of October 6 to face remand proceedings as part of the ongoing police investigation.
