European project CookWise promotes sustainable kitchen practices to reduce food waste
The European project CookWise, co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program, has been launched to combat domestic food waste. The initiative involves collaborative efforts from organizations in Poland, Cyprus, and Bulgaria, aiming to provide citizens with practical tools and knowledge to manage leftover food items such as stale bread and overripe produce effectively.
The project focuses on changing daily habits through educational materials, digital tools, and creative recipes that encourage the sustainable reuse of food. By transforming leftovers into new meals, the project promotes a circular approach to household cooking. The initiative will be prominently featured in Cyprus through the 'Zero Waste Gastronomy' program, scheduled to take place from October 9 to 11, 2026.
This project addresses the growing environmental and socio-economic challenges associated with food waste. By fostering a more sustainable kitchen culture, CookWise seeks to provide a practical response to the common problem of discarding edible food. Further information and practical resources are available through the project's digital platforms, which are currently being promoted to support the behavioral shift toward zero-waste living.
