Student stabs classmates at Istanbul middle school

On the morning of Tuesday, October 6, 2026, a 15-year-old female student carried out a knife attack at the Seyh Samil Imam Hatip middle school in the Basaksehir district of Istanbul. The incident occurred around 08:35-08:40 during a dispute. While the Istanbul Governorate officially reported five injuries, other sources including the district governor Cemil Ozgur Oneyi reported between seven and eight students were injured. The victims were transported to the Basaksehir Cam ve Sakura City Hospital, with three reported to be in serious condition.

The 15-year-old suspect, who attends a high school in the same district, was apprehended by police at the scene.
