Mother of late singer Giorgos Mazonakis demands justice as investigation proceeds

Klio Mazonakis, the mother of singer Giorgos Mazonakis, has publicly demanded severe punishment for those responsible for her son's death. The singer passed away on September 9, 2026, following a plasmapheresis procedure performed at a medical clinic on Karneadou Street.

The Athens Medical Association (ISA) has recently escalated its involvement by submitting a detailed supplemental memorandum to the investigator. The association is requesting an additional criminal prosecution against the two currently imprisoned doctors, Ioanna Gaka and Ilias Theodoropoulos, specifically regarding allegations of false declarations. This request follows an internal ISA audit that reviewed documents from 2025 and 2026 concerning ozone therapy attachments. Furthermore, the ISA has provided the investigator with new evidence pertaining to a second clinic operated by the accused individuals on Patriarchou Ioakim Street.
