EDEK launches nationwide fundraising campaign for organizational restructuring
The EDEK party has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign aimed at supporting its organizational, administrative, and financial restructuring. The initiative, running from October to December 2026, invites party members, supporters, and citizens to provide financial contributions, with a maximum donation limit of €500 per individual or legal entity. The party leadership stated that these funds are essential for covering operational needs and establishing a viable financial future following the loss of state subsidies after its exit from parliament.
In response to the announcement, the EDEK municipal group in Strovolos pledged a total of €1,000 to the campaign, with its two municipal councilors contributing €500 each from their monthly allowances. The party has implemented drastic cost-cutting measures, including reports of potential staff reductions and bank overdrafts, as it seeks to stabilize its operations. EDEK has committed to complete transparency, promising to issue official receipts for every contribution and to present a full financial report during its upcoming Statutory Congress.
Management has emphasized that this campaign is a critical component of its survival strategy. Once the fundraising period concludes in December, the party will disclose the total amount collected and detail how the resources were utilized to sustain its political activities.
