45-year-old man pleads guilty to high-value burglary in Limassol
On October 6, 2026, a 45-year-old man pleaded guilty before the Limassol Criminal Court to charges including burglary, theft, and conspiracy. The case concerns the theft of second-hand designer bags, watches, and jewelry valued at 220,000 euros from a shop in Limassol. Following his admission of guilt, some of the initial charges brought against him were suspended by the court.
The defendant was arrested three months after the incident. Police identified him through DNA evidence found on various items, including a cardboard necklace box, a green bin, and the handle of the sledgehammer used to break into the shop. While reports from Philenews mention that evidence was also discovered in an elevator stairwell of a nearby apartment building, the English source notes that stolen property was recovered in that location and specifies the forensic link to the sledgehammer.
The court has scheduled a new date to present the facts of the case and proceed with sentencing. The investigation, which initially involved the suspect denying all involvement, concluded after forensic analysis confirmed his biological material at the scene.
