Department of Road Transport issues safety warning for defective vehicles
The Department of Road Transport (DoRT) in Cyprus has issued a safety warning following notifications from the EU's Safety Gate system regarding defective vehicles, motorcycles, and related spare parts. These warnings, covering the 37th, 38th, and 39th weeks of 2026, identify specific products that may pose risks to consumer safety.
Authorities have directed all manufacturers, importers, distributors, and sellers—including online and remote vendors—operating within the Republic of Cyprus to immediately report if they have distributed any of the flagged products. Economic operators are required by law to take all necessary measures to recall defective items from the market.
Consumers who own vehicles or parts potentially affected by these notifications are advised to contact their manufacturer, authorized dealer, or distributor to receive specific safety instructions. Further details on the affected models can be verified by the public on the official Safety Gate portal using the specific warning numbers assigned to each product.
