Athalassa National Forest Park undergoes infrastructure upgrades
The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment has announced the commencement of infrastructure upgrade works at the Athalassa National Forest Park. Starting October 7, 2026, construction begins on a new 1.4-kilometer pedestrian path, with completion expected by the end of December 2026.
Due to the project, the section of the existing pedestrian and bicycle path extending from the entrance near the Agricultural Research Institute (ATI) to the Agios Georgios Dam will remain temporarily closed to the public. This measure is intended to ensure the safety of visitors and facilitate the construction process without interruption.
Authorities have advised park visitors to exercise caution when moving near the construction zones and to strictly follow all posted signage and official instructions provided on-site during the closure period.
