RoboMarkets AEL protests use of Spyros Kyprianou Arena by Maccabi Tel Aviv

RoboMarkets AEL has expressed strong opposition to the decision by sports authorities to grant the use of the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Center to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Israeli club is slated to use the arena as its home base for EuroLeague competitions. The Limassol-based team, which holds an existing agreement to use the facility for its own training and competitive schedule, argued that this decision disrupts its seasonal planning and institutional operations.

In a public statement, the volleyball section of AEL clarified that its objection is not directed at Maccabi Tel Aviv or the hosting of high-level European events in Cyprus. Instead, the club criticized the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation (KOPE) for poor management of public athletic spaces. AEL stated it refuses to be treated as a guest in its own home. Additionally, the club raised concerns regarding the safety and suitability of the venue, demanding official clarifications from the governing bodies as to why the facility was selected and what impact this will have on local teams.
