Cyprus weather forecast: shift from high pressure to unstable conditions
Cyprus is currently under the influence of weak high pressure, which is maintaining generally sunny conditions with temperatures reaching up to 31°C to 32°C. While skies remain mostly clear, local cloud cover is expected, particularly in mountainous areas during the afternoon, with a potential for isolated showers. Wind speeds are generally light to moderate, reaching 3 to 4 Beaufort, though some coastal areas may experience temporary gusts.
From Sunday, October 11, the weather pattern is expected to shift as weak high pressure gives way to weak low pressure. This transition will bring more frequent, localized cloud cover, particularly in northern and mountainous regions, with isolated rain or thunderstorms likely during midday and afternoon hours. Dust may also be present in the atmosphere, especially in the eastern half of the island.
Looking ahead, officials from the Meteorological Department indicate that temperatures will see a slight drop on Monday, followed by more stable conditions. However, a more significant deterioration in weather, characterized by more widespread rain and a notable drop in temperatures, is expected from Wednesday evening onwards. Residents are advised to stay updated with official reports as the unstable system progresses.
