Cyprus Football Association announces referees for matchday 5 of Cyprus League

The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has officially announced the referee appointments for the 5th matchday of the 'Cyprus League by Stoiximan', scheduled to take place between October 9 and October 12, 2026. The action kicks off on Friday, October 9, with Karmiotissa Pano Polemidion facing Omonia Nicosia at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium, officiated by referee Antonis Konstantinidis.

A notable development for this matchday is the reintroduction of foreign VAR officials, a trend repeating the schedule from the previous season. Italian referee Gianluca Aureliano has been appointed as the VAR for two key fixtures: APOEL Nicosia versus Nea Salamina Famagusta on October 10 and Anorthosis Famagusta against Pafos FC on October 11. Other matches include Krasava ENY versus Apollon Limassol, refereed by Konstantinos Fotiou, and Olympiakos Nicosia against Aris Limassol.

The use of foreign VAR officials in the 5th round mirrors the strategy employed during the 2025-2026 season, when the federation first integrated international officials at the same stage of the championship. While the on-field referees remain Cypriot, the federation continues to bring in foreign expertise to manage video assistant duties for high-profile encounters. These appointments mark the ongoing formal process of maintaining match standards across the league.
