Mikel Arteta signs contract extension with Arsenal until 2030
Arsenal Football Club officially announced on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, that manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract extending his tenure until June 2030. The 44-year-old Spaniard, who has been in charge since December 2019, successfully led the club to the Premier League title last season, marking their first league triumph since 2004.
Financial reports indicate that the new deal significantly increases Arteta’s annual earnings. His previous contract was worth approximately 11.8 million euros plus 5.9 million euros in bonuses. Under the updated agreement, his base salary is set at 20.1 million euros, potentially reaching 23.6 million euros with performance-related incentives. This compensation makes him the highest-paid manager in the league, surpassing Nottingham Forest’s Oliver Glasner. The extension follows several months of negotiations, as his previous deal, signed in 2024, was set to expire next summer.
Following the finalization of the contract, the club has shifted its focus to further strengthening the squad, with reports suggesting intensified efforts to secure the transfer of Declan Rice. This strategic continuity is intended to maintain Arsenal's competitive position at the top of English football.
