Citizen Commissioner's Office launches public consultation on minors' social media access
The Office of the Commissioner for the Citizen has officially launched a new public consultation via the 'Foni tou Politi' (Voice of the Citizen) online platform. The consultation focuses on the complex and timely issue of regulating minors' access to social media platforms. Citizens are encouraged to participate by submitting their views and opinions through the designated website, which is accessible via both computers and mobile devices.
As an exception due to the nature of the topic, the voting process is open to individuals aged 15 and older. The consultation period began on October 7, 2026, and will remain active until November 8, 2026. This initiative aims to gather public input on potential restrictions or guidelines regarding the digital presence of minors. The results of this process are intended to inform future policy discussions on digital safety and child protection.
