46-year-old man in Limassol faces charges over threats to daughters
A 46-year-old man of Arab descent appeared before the Limassol District Court on October 7, 2026, to face six criminal charges, including harassment, threats, and causing mental harm to his two daughters. The defendant pleaded not guilty to all counts. The charges stem from a complaint filed by his 19-year-old daughter, who reported persistent psychological pressure and threats regarding the sisters' lifestyle and their use of make-up in Cyprus.
According to the charge sheet, the man sent threatening messages via a mobile application in June 2026, including a video warning that he would be forced to return them as corpses if he saw them wearing make-up again. The prosecution also revealed that the defendant resided in the Republic of Cyprus illegally between July 2023 and September 2026, following the rejection of his asylum application by the relevant service.
The case has been scheduled for a full hearing at the end of October. The legal proceedings were initiated after the elder daughter stated she could no longer endure the ongoing psychological abuse and threats directed at her and her younger sister.
