Anorthosis prepares for high-stakes clash against Paphos FC

Anorthosis Famagusta hosts Paphos FC at the 'Antonis Papadopoulos' stadium today, October 11, at 18:00, for the fifth round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan. The hosts are seeking a resurgence after a difficult start to the season, having secured only three points in their opening four matches, including a recent 0-3 loss to Nea Salamina. Coach Nestor El Maestro aims to replicate the tactical success seen in their 2-1 victory over APOEL last month, though the team faces injury absences, specifically Bergstrom and Satin, while Källström is available.

Club President Christos Marangos recently addressed the media, emphasizing the club's transition toward financial stabilization. He reported that 2 million euros have already been paid to clear historical debts, with an additional 1 million euros scheduled for payment shortly. The administration is also actively pursuing efforts to overturn a transfer ban, advised by a Swiss sports law expert. Historically, Anorthosis has struggled against Paphos, having failed to secure a win against them since February 20, 2023, a period spanning 1,327 days. Paphos, led by Ricardo Sá Pinto, enters the match aiming to bounce back from a loss to AEL, relying on a solid defense that has conceded only two goals thus far.
