Anorthosis president outlines financial recovery and transfer ban efforts
Anorthosis Famagusta president Christos Marangos addressed media representatives at a dinner in Larnaca on October 7, 2026, to discuss the club's ongoing restructuring and financial recovery. Marangos revealed that the board has already paid 2 million euros toward outstanding historical debts, with an additional 1 million euros scheduled for payment in the coming days. The president emphasized that these actions are essential for the club's survival following a period of severe crisis and represent efforts to build a foundation for a competitive return next season.
Regarding the club’s sporting challenges, Marangos and his team are actively working to overturn a final decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that imposed a transfer ban for two periods. Although the administration maintains that the chances of success remain slim, they noted that the probability of a positive outcome has improved from 1% to double digits. The club remains focused on financial consolidation and performance improvements to overcome their current position in the league standings, as they prepare for the upcoming match against Pafos FC.
