APOEL and Nea Salamina prepare for matchday five clash

APOEL and Nea Salamina are set to face off this Saturday in the fifth round of the Cyprus championship at the GSP Stadium. APOEL, led by Nikos Papadopoulos, seeks a return to winning ways after failing to secure a victory in their last two matches against Anorthosis and Apollon. The team is focusing on defensive stability, though Kostas Laifis remains a major doubt due to a persistent hematoma that sidelined him during international duty. Conversely, Carillo is expected to make his debut for APOEL after recovering from injury.

Nea Salamina enters the contest with high morale following their first league victory against Anorthosis. Head coach Lopez is expected to rely on the core of his winning lineup, though he must address a change at right-back following Giorgos Viktoros' loan move to Omonia. Andreas Filiotis is the primary candidate to fill the void, as the team looks to secure its first major away win of the season. Both sides are currently fine-tuning their rosters as they anticipate a challenging encounter in Nicosia.
