APOEL faces Nea Salamina in Cyprus football league match

APOEL Nicosia is set to face Nea Salamina this Saturday in the fifth round of the domestic championship. APOEL seeks a return to form following a period of inconsistent results, including a defeat to Anorthosis and a draw with Apollon, which saw the team concede four goals in two matches. The Nicosia squad is currently focused on improving its defensive organization, though defender Konstantinos Laifis remains doubtful for the upcoming game due to a persistent hematoma that prevented his participation in recent international matches.

Nea Salamina enters the match with high morale following their recent victory over Anorthosis. The team faces a key tactical adjustment in the right-back position following the loan departure of Giorgos Viktoros to Omonoia. Consequently, 31-year-old Andreas Filiotis is expected to step into the starting lineup, having impressed during the recent break in friendly matches against AEK and Ermis. Coach Lopez has a full squad available and intends to maintain a similar structure to the one that performed well in the previous round, while Poveda remains the primary choice to lead the attack ahead of Angielski.
