Omonia secures victory against Karmiotissa to reach top of the table

On October 9, 2026, Omonia defeated Karmiotissa 3-0 at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium in the 5th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan. The goals were scored by Brouwers, Tankovic, and Satka, marking a successful return to action after a three-week league break. With this win, Omonia climbed to the top of the league standings, temporarily leading the table with 11 points, despite playing one more match than their rivals.

Head coach Henning Berg was absent from the bench due to a suspension, with Hector Gonzalez overseeing the match. This victory served as a crucial morale booster ahead of Omonia's upcoming European competition match against Celje in Slovenia. Karmiotissa, led by manager Alexis Garpozis, remains without a league win this season, extending their streak of poor results following the match.

Omonia's performance was noted for its tactical maturity and balanced scoring contributions across all lines. The club now holds the best offensive record in the league with 11 total goals scored, and they are preparing for their next domestic fixture against AEL Limassol, which is scheduled for the following Sunday at the Alphamega Stadium.
