Golden statue of Donald Trump displayed at the European Parliament
A provocative 2.5 to 2.6-meter tall golden statue depicting a nude Donald Trump has been installed at the European Parliament building in Strasbourg. The sculpture, titled "The Orange Plague" or "King of Injustice," shows the U.S. President sitting on the shoulders of a much smaller, exhausted man who appears to be struggling under his weight.
Created by Danish sculptor Jens Galschiøt, the statue is covered in 23-karat gold leaf. The figure of Trump is depicted holding a golf club, a globe-shaped ball, and a set of scales. A satirical inscription on the base reads: "I sit on a man’s back. He is sinking under my weight. I would do anything to help him. Except for getting off his back.
Jens Galschiøt is known for creating sculptures that serve as political protests. He stated that the choice of gold is intended to symbolize social and political inequality. The exhibition has attracted significant attention within the parliamentary complex, serving as a platform for the artist to critique the American leader's policies and global impact. There are no reports of the statue's removal or planned legal challenges at this time.
