Cyprus futsal championship 2026-2027 season begins

The 2026-2027 Futsal Championship officially commenced on October 8, 2026, featuring ten teams competing in the 28th edition of the tournament. The first phase consists of 18 matchdays, followed by a structured progression through playoffs and semifinals to determine the final champion. A specific regulation change for this season mandates that the teams finishing in 9th and 10th place will play a head-to-head series to establish their final positions at the bottom of the table.

The opening day saw three decisive victories: reigning champion APOEL defeated AEL 7-1 at the Nikos Solomonidis arena, Omonia triumphed over Apollon 5-2 at the Tasos Papadopoulos-Eleftheria venue, and AEK secured a 4-2 win against Ararat at the Melkonian sports hall. The opening round concludes on October 9 with matches between Elpida Astromeriti and Doxa Paliometochou, as well as Athienou AC and EN Latsion.

Off the court, APOEL Futsal has reported a significant surge in fan support, confirming that all season tickets for the 2026-2027 campaign have sold out before the team's first home game. The league remains in its initial phase, with authorities overseeing the tournament structure as defined in the official championship announcement.
