Athletes break world records at World Apnea 2026 championships in Limassol
The World Apnea 2026 Depth Championships held in Limassol, Cyprus, concluded with multiple world records and intense competition among the world's elite freedivers. Hungarian athlete Zsófia Törőcsik secured the Free Immersion (FIM) World Championship title by diving to a record-breaking 108 metres, completing the performance in four minutes. In the men's category, Croatian diver Petar Klovar claimed the FIM World Championship title with a 132-metre dive, while Alexey Molchanov set a new AIDA world record on the final day by reaching a depth of 137 metres.
Throughout the event, several national records were established, including marks set by athletes from Australia, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Lebanon, and Qatar. The championships, regulated under AIDA International standards, saw a tight battle for the Overall World Championship title, with the competition decided only in the final stages. All new world records remain subject to the formal ratification process by the governing body.
