Italy and Cyprus to hold maritime business forum in Limassol
On Friday, October 9, 2026, the Italy-Cyprus Maritime Business Forum will take place at the DP World Cruise Terminal in Limassol. Organized by the Italian Embassy in Nicosia, the event aims to foster commercial cooperation, enhance maritime infrastructure, and explore investment opportunities between the two nations.
The forum will feature three panel discussions involving government officials, shipowners, ship managers, insurers, and industry representatives. Key topics include sustainable port development, shipping regulation, and international maritime corridors. The initiative is supported by various organizations, including the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), the Italy-Cyprus Chamber of Commerce, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Invest Cyprus, and the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This event is significant given the shipping sector's importance to the Cypriot economy. Maritime shipping contributes approximately 7 per cent to Cyprus’ GDP, a figure that rises to nearly 25 per cent when the broader blue economy—comprising coastal tourism, fisheries, and aquaculture—is included. The forum seeks to strengthen bilateral ties and technology exchange between maritime service providers from both countries.
