Famagusta District Self-Government Organization signs new collective labor agreement
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the Famagusta District Self-Government Organization (EOA) officially signed a new collective labor agreement. The signing ceremony took place at the organization's amphitheater in the presence of trade unions, representatives from the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEA), and the staff.
The agreement establishes a framework for labor relations and includes a significant provision for the creation of a Personnel Reward Scheme. This initiative aims to implement a fair, transparent, and meritocratic system to recognize employee performance, productivity, and individual initiative based on objective criteria. This development marks the first time such a merit-based reward system is being formally adopted among Cyprus's regional self-government organizations.
Famagusta EOA President Giannis Karousos described the agreement as a milestone for the organization. By integrating labor unions, specifically SIDHEK-PEO and OHO-SEK, into the process, the organization intends to foster a modern work environment. The agreement serves as a foundation for long-term cooperation between management and staff, focusing on achieving the organization's strategic goals through workforce engagement and institutionalized incentives.
