Greek tax authorities investigate Anna Vissi concert and Nikos Karvelas finances
The Greek Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has launched a comprehensive financial audit following a public dispute between singer Anna Vissi and composer Nikos Karvelas regarding fees, royalties, and ticket sales. Authorities are scrutinizing records from Vissi’s recent concert at the OAKA stadium and past performances at the Panathenaic Stadium, focusing on production contracts, ticket issuance, and potential VAT discrepancies, including allegations of undeclared VAT totaling 80,000 euros for recent events and over 50,000 euros related to her 2025 European tour.
Separately, tax auditors visited the home of Nikos Karvelas to serve a notice regarding tax irregularities over the past four years, involving a sum of 850,000 euros. While initial reports suggested this was linked to the OAKA concert, officials clarified it pertains to separate, long-standing tax issues. The visit escalated into an intense confrontation where the composer reportedly shouted at officials, forcing them to withdraw before eventually serving the document electronically. AADE is currently examining invoices and transactions across multiple companies, including those based in Cyprus and the UK, to determine if the artists and production firms have fully complied with tax regulations.
