Greek tax authorities investigate financial records of Anna Vissi and Nikos Karvelas
The Greek Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has launched comprehensive audits into the financial activities of singer Anna Vissi and composer Nikos Karvelas. The scrutiny follows a public dispute between the two artists regarding fees and concert finances, which triggered investigations into the ticketing and tax compliance of major performances, including Vissi's concert at the OAKA stadium. Authorities are specifically examining contracts, invoices, and VAT payments related to these events.
Separately, tax officials recently visited the residence of Nikos Karvelas to deliver documents concerning tax obligations amounting to 850,000 euros. Reports indicate a heated confrontation occurred during the visit, though the document was subsequently served electronically. The investigation into Karvelas is reported as distinct from the Vissi concert inquiry, focusing on his personal tax records from the last four years.
In response to reports suggesting irregularities in concert production companies and potential VAT arrears of over 80,000 euros, representatives for Anna Vissi have categorically denied any wrongdoing. They stated that all financial obligations are met according to regulations and that the current audit is a standard procedure for large-scale events. Vissi's team also rejected claims regarding foreign company debts in Cyprus and England, asserting full tax compliance.
