Ben Affleck defends Jennifer Lopez's lack of Oscar nominations

In a recent interview with Variety, 54-year-old actor and director Ben Affleck addressed the fact that his former wife, 57-year-old Jennifer Lopez, has never received an Oscar nomination despite her extensive career. Affleck expressed his admiration for Lopez, stating he is biased in her favor because of his immense respect for her professional capabilities and what she is able to achieve.

Affleck noted that the Academy has consistently overlooked Lopez’s performances in films that received critical acclaim, specifically highlighting the 2019 drama 'Hustlers' and last year's 'Kiss of the Spider Woman'. The latter film was produced by Artists Equity, the production company co-founded by Affleck, Matt Damon, and Jennifer Lopez. Regarding the awards process, Affleck described it as a strange and subjective system, remarking that the level of a project's commercial success does not always align with personal taste or critical recognition.
