Ongoing road maintenance and traffic disruptions across Cyprus
Several road construction and maintenance projects are currently impacting traffic flow across various regions of Cyprus. In the Kourion municipality, the SLS Bypass Extension (Phase 3) requires a lane closure on the Akrotiri-Kolossi road from October 2 to October 29, 2026, with traffic alternating via temporary signals. Meanwhile, in the Agios Dometios municipal district of Nicosia, horizontal marking works are scheduled for Grigori Afxentiou Street on Sunday, October 11, 2026, between 06:00 and 16:00, necessitating partial lane closures between the junctions with Elysion and Delfon streets.
Additional maintenance activities are occurring on major highways. Vegetation management, including pruning, was conducted on the Larnaca-Kofinou highway until October 9, 2026. Furthermore, the Department of Forests is carrying out periodic watering of plants along the Limassol-Nicosia highway between the GSP roundabout and the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway. This work began on October 2 and will continue through November 30, 2026, occurring on weekdays between 08:30 and 14:30. During these maintenance operations, shoulder closures of approximately 300 meters will be implemented periodically to facilitate the work while traffic in the main lanes continues to move uninterrupted.
