Construction sector growth recorded in second quarter of 2026
The Statistical Service reported growth in the construction sector for the second quarter of 2026. The Production Index in construction reached 130.28 points, marking a 1.1% annual increase compared to the same period in 2025. For the first half of 2026, the sector recorded a cumulative production increase of 1.4% year-on-year.
The Producer Price Index (PPI) in construction showed a more pronounced upward trend, reaching 132.48 points in the second quarter of 2026. This represents a 4.9% increase compared to the second quarter of 2025 and a 2.5% increase on a quarterly basis relative to the first quarter of 2026. For the period of January to June 2026, the PPI increased by 4.7% compared to the first half of the previous year.
These indices, based on a 2021 baseline of 100 points, reflect the ongoing evolution of both production volume and unit prices charged to clients for construction projects. The data provides a comprehensive overview of the sector's economic trajectory through mid-2026.
