40-year-old man extradited to Cyprus over jewelry store burglary
A 40-year-old man was extradited to Cyprus on October 9, 2026, following his arrest in another European country on September 10, 2026. The suspect is accused of involvement in the burglary of a jewelry store in the Famagusta district, which occurred in the early hours of January 19, 2026.
The incident took place at approximately 3:55 a.m., when the store’s alarm system was triggered. Although police arrived at the scene shortly after being notified by the store manager, the perpetrators had already fled. The owner reported the theft of jewelry and other property valued at over €200,000.
Following an investigation and the evaluation of collected evidence, authorities issued both national and European arrest warrants against the suspect. Upon his arrival in Cyprus, he was re-arrested on the pending national warrant. The suspect was subsequently brought before the Famagusta District Court, where the judicial process regarding the charges against him has commenced.
