Cyprus and Greece strengthen strategic cooperation in innovation and technology
On October 9, 2026, Deputy Minister to the President of Cyprus, Eleni Piki, addressed the Fortune Greece & Cyprus Roundtable to discuss the deepening bilateral ties between Cyprus and Greece. She emphasized that the two nations are moving beyond general declarations toward the implementation of concrete policies in key areas, including the digital and green transitions, artificial intelligence, supply security, and European competitiveness.
Piki highlighted that the establishment of the Cyprus-Greece Intergovernmental Council over the past three years has provided a permanent framework for this collaboration. This structure enables both countries to align their efforts in research, innovation, and technological development. Specifically, she pointed to Cyprus's participation in the European 'AI Factories' ecosystem and ongoing investments in high-performance computing infrastructure as central components of this strategic partnership.
The initiative aims to foster growth while addressing the evolving requirements of European policy. By leveraging shared interests, Cyprus and Greece intend to enhance regional stability and economic development. The collaboration is expected to continue through institutionalized frameworks, focusing on practical advancements that improve the daily lives of citizens in both countries.
